How Electric Fencing Works

How Electric Fencing Works

Why Choose Electric Fencing ?
Electric fencing offers many advantages over conventional fencing. Firstly, electric fencing is economical (50% less), in terms of material and work. You can install electric fencing yourself or get an installer to do it for you. Electric fencing is also a psychological barrier. Your animals will avoid it after their first contact. This means that the physical load on an electric fence is virtually zero.

How does Electric Fencing work ?
An electric fence is a circuit. The current passes through the wire to the animal or long grass, then via the earth stakes in the earthing system back to the unit.

For this, you need:
1. An energiser to provide the current.
2. Fencing wire to conduct the current.
3. Insulators to insulate the wood or metal posts so the power does not drain to the ground.
4. An animal to receive a shock if it contacts the fence, thereby completing the circuit.
5. An earth system that conducts the current back to the energiser.

Steps required to install your perfect Electric Fence system
1. Energiser - Choose the Energiser that best suits your requirements.
2. Earthing - Install an Earthing system, make sure the system is properly earthed !!
3. Posts - Choose the correct posts for your fence.
4. Wire, Conductors - Choose a conductor that is best for your needs.
5. Connectors - Make the right connections.
6. Reels - To make rolling Wire or Tape on or off easy with portable fencing.
7. Insulators - Choose the appropriate insulator to connect to your posts.
8. Gates - Install a Gate.
9. Testing - Test the operation of your unit, the earthing and the fence itself.
